Wouter Van Der Vlugt

From Netherlands origin, Wouter van der Vlugt is born in 1970 in Luxembourg. Wood Sculptor since 10 years, he nevertheless starts his career of independent artist as a designer of furniture. Founding member of the artists group Sixthfloor, Wouter creates in 1991 his own workshop of Neimillen, an old sawmill in Koerich.

In the work of Wouter, architecture elements are opposed to organic forms. He seems to search to dig en the deepest of the materials to discover its true nature, there where the emptiness and the volume join. Even if the wood stays his predilection material, he often works the fibre glass, a material that allows the artist to express himself in a different language.
