The 2nd edition of "De Mains De Maîtres" confirmed its position as European Fine Craft Biennial and proposed an event of a new scale in Luxembourg.
From Wednesday 28 November to Sunday 2 December 2018, the event welcomed 12,000 visitors to Luxembourg. The quality of the works amazed and surprised the many visitors and asserted the vitality and modernity of contemporary craft creation.
From ceramics to glass, through textile sculpture, metal, concrete, or even cabinet making, haute couture, printing, engraving ... this ephemeral and original collection of nearly 300 works of arts invited to discover or rediscover the talents of these craft creators who elevate the material.
The exhibition welcomed about 60 Luxembourgish artisans, surrounded by the French selection of Ateliers d'Art de France, guest of honour, and by Belgian and German artists, as well as some finest collaborations between visual artists or designers with the know-how of international manufactories.
The Curator Jean-Marc Dimanche had chosen for this edition the theme "Gestures and Wonders": "in the intelligence of the gesture and the preciousness of the materials are always hidden marvellous, mysterious adventures that unfold to the sight and touch and that every creator works as to better surprise us when the time comes, once the work offered and delivered to itself ".
With the aim of highlighting and promoting the crafts of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, contributing to their preservation and development, the event ended on Monday with a day reserved exclusively for high school students. The artists present were able to exchange and transmit the passion that drives them forward.
