Biennale of
Artistic
Crafts 2025

In this era of global warming, and all the regulations for which humanity is largely responsible, nature has never been so much at the center of our attention. Living in harmony with it, and the renewed awareness of our full belonging to the living world, compel us to observe, in a new and at the very least different way, the other kingdoms with which we share the planet—especially the plant kingdom, so essential to our life on earth.

Rather than simply taking advantage, let us share; rather than exploiting and depleting, let us nurture; let us wisely use all the riches offered to us, taking care to preserve them for the future of those who will come after us. Artisans are among those, alongside farmers, who perhaps best respected these principles of good stewardship toward living things—at least until the mid-20th century and the rise of consumerism in our so-called civilized countries.

It is urgent that we reclaim these values of living well together, of cultivating beauty without degrading this nature that is both unique and so precious. Rather than simply reclaiming it, let us imitate it, enhance it, redraw it, reinvent it—why not even augment it with our genius, as the greatest artists have done since antiquity. This “Singular Nature” is the theme we have chosen for the 5th edition of De Mains De Maîtres, to be held from November 20 to 23, 2025—a highly topical subject that we hope will inspire all our artisans, whether they are ceramists, glassmakers, wood or stone sculptors, weavers, cabinetmakers… exceptional creators, all alchemists of beautiful materials.

Let us hope that this 5th edition, which is being prepared under the best auspices with our guest of honor, the Czech Republic, will be a source of inspiration and self-surpassing for all art artisans and creators, and for our ever-growing public, a moment of surprises and discoveries around a showcase of exceptional works.

An Association
Dedicated to
the Artistic Crafts

A Committed
Biennial

At a time when our world is uncertain about its own future—whether in politics, economics, or climate—it is more vital than ever to fervently uphold the commitment of the men and women who, through their talent and expertise, cultivate the art of beauty. This art of fine workmanship and the desire to transform materials—whatever they may be—into precious and priceless objects, has, throughout the ages, represented an invaluable and unwavering part of our humanity.

Established in 2016 on the initiative of the heir couple, Their Royal Highnesses Guillaume and Stéphanie of Luxembourg, the De Mains De Maîtres Biennial has become one of the must-see international exhibitions dedicated to defending the Artistic Crafts, rising in less than ten years to become a key event at the European level. Supported since its inception by the Chamber of Skilled Trades of Luxembourg and Spuerkeess, the event unfolds in the heart of Luxembourg City, which, for one week, becomes a crossroads of art and a showcase for craftsmanship that draws its vitality and modernity from the transmission of skills and a perpetual quest for innovation.

From the arts of fire to textile sculpture, metal or concrete work, cabinetmaking, haute couture, printing, engraving, and more, a true gathering of talent comes together every two years in the Grand Duchy to share wonders with us through a unique and unprecedented collection of exceptional objects—all one-of-a-kind, crafted by Masterful Hands. Extending from 19 Liberté, the event’s epicenter, an “off-site” circuit invites visitors to explore museums, cultural institutions, and galleries, which, as part of their programming, host a selection of works by the same artisans and creators.

Following Portugal, the Czech Republic is, to our great pleasure and thanks to the bonds uniting our two countries, the guest of honor for this 5th edition. This renewal, we are sure, will spark public curiosity to discover other crafts and expertise. What better journey than to travel across Europe in search of other traditions, techniques, and innovations, all striving beyond our borders to beautify the world… and what greater commitment, once again, than to be able, through De Mains De Maîtres, to shine a spotlight in the Grand Duchy on all those men and women who dedicate their lives to the quest for the Grail—the pursuit of the ultimate masterpiece!
