Iva Mrazkova & John Kieffer

Iva Mrazkova, a Czech-born artist who graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, moved to Luxembourg in 1989. A qualified painter, she has broadened her artistic field by turning to bronze and steel sculpture. Iva regularly exhibits in Luxembourg (Galerie La Cité, Galerie Schweitzer, Galerie Clairefontaine, Galerie Schlassgoart).  She has been a member of CAL Luxembourg since 1992.

Iva uses a variety of techniques for her steel/corten sculptures. She begins by creating sketches and models in bronze. Her work is inspired by nature, traditions, legends and myths. The large-format sculptures are then designed by blacksmith John Kieffer in his workshop in Dudelange, in close collaboration with the artist.

John Kieffer, born in Dudelange in 1944, currently works in his workshop in Dudelange. Last November, he mounted the sculpture "Racines" on the forecourt of the Lycée Hubert Clément in Esch sur Alzette. This sculpture has become a monument to the resistance of LHCE students in 1942.
