Madeleine Weber-Weydert

Madeleine was born in Luxembourg in 1954. After studying fusing in 1995-96, she took a course at Sars-Poteries with the artist Frank van der Ham.

Having always been fascinated by the nobility of glass, Madeleine has adopted a creative use of recovered and recycled glass over the last few years. She has developed a process for painting the inside of these objects to give them new life and sparkle.  With her creations, she hopes to encourage people to take a fresh look at the objects they use, and to rethink waste management.

Applying colour to the inside of glass objects requires precision work, which she carries out using tools and techniques that she has designed herself. She has learnt to provoke and control colours, but sometimes chance does its work too. The technical challenge, then, is to adapt the shape to better assemble the recycled objects and the different materials. The patina that time has given them through oxidation, rust and wear is not a deterioration for her, but an asset.

She exhibited at the Palais des Arts in Vannes in 2008 and in a private exhibition by invitation, rue Beaumont, Luxembourg in 2022.
