Rafael Springer

Springer Rafael has been an independent visual artist and ceramist in Luxembourg since 1982, winning the "Pierre Werner" prize in 2002 and the "Biennale d'Art Contemporain Strassen" prize in 2011. He has exhibited in various individual and group events since 1988, including "Art in Kirchberg" in Luxembourg in 2006, "Quatre décennies de création artistique" at Ratskeller in Luxembourg in 2014, and "SPLASHINGS, one day - one shot exhibition" in Howald, Luxembourg.

The artist exploits the limits of ceramics by soaking the leaves and branches of various local trees in liquid clay, to create "vegan" and local ceramics, in keeping with this biennial's theme of "Gesture and Territory".
