Rex Kalehoff

Rex Kalehoff is a furniture designer and a stone and wood sculptor, born on a wood sailboat in New York City. He completed his BFA in Sculpture at UARTS in Philadelphia and his MFA in Wood furniture Design at RIT in New York (USA). It was during his travels to Pietra, Italy, that the artist learned the traditional technique of marble carving from master craftsmen. He has exhibited in the USA, Australia, Thailand, Japan, Portugal, New Zealand and Korea. He has also participated in international artist residencies and teaches woodworking and furniture design. In 2022, Rex opened his woodworking studio RexinLux Wood Studios at 1535° Creative Hub in Differdange (L).

His sculptures explore and depict a fascination and sincere relationship with nature. His creations are playful yet mature and sophisticated in aesthetic, seeking to connect cultures and make people smile. Although made of stone, the sculptures appear luminous and fluffy. Combining representations of horses, clouds and ships, his three works illustrate the remarkable yet ephemeral role that civilization plays on this earth, passing and changing like the clouds.
