Hawecker Marion

Marion Hawecker, born in Strasbourg (France) in 1986, is a visual artist and a feather worker. She currently lives and works in Dole, Jura (France). Trained as an architect, she left in 2015 to learn the skills of feather making at the Octave Feuillet high school in Paris and at the Maison Lemarié, working for luxury ready-towear and haute couture houses. Today, through her practice, she questions the concept of "Nature", our relationship with the Living, the nonhuman world that surrounds us and with which we maintain conscious or unconscious connections. By exploring myths, animist cosmogonies and her own perception, she weaves invisible threads between these worlds through imitation, mimicry, analogies of forms and silent evocations through different forms of production and experimentation around the bird feather. Marion Hawecker has a fascination for this animal material which physically links her to the Living, by inscribing it at the heart of the narrative she is trying to rewrite with her environment and with the infinite number of lives that coexist with us. Whether it is elementary, sidereal, mineral, animal or vegetal, she observes this link and restores it in an intimate way through her sensations, her dreams of metamorphoses and inter-species hybridations.
