Isensee Ulrike

The experimental use of techniques, materials and colour aesthetics kept me busy during my art studies. During my apprenticeship at the handloom, I learned to translate my creative ideas into to translate my creative ideas into fabric. I soon began to break down the squaring grid underlying the the weaving process. The result: scarves that look like trapped textile threads, airy structures structures sometimes reminiscent of Jackson Pollock's paintings. Special techniques that cannot be cannot be used industrially make each piece unique, which ranks in the border area of art, design and of art, design and fashion. Ulrike Isensee (Hamburg) has long been known for her imaginative hand-woven scarves. Her new room dividers, wall objects, assemblages and fabrics are a textile attempt. Her new room dividers, wall objects, assemblages and fabrics are a textile attempt to approach Bauhaus weaving and to pay homage to the women of this movement.
