For Roxanne Flick, a Luxemburg-based designer creating furniture and home accessories, design must offer more than the creation of functional objects. Design products should certainly fulfil a function, but they must also be ambassadors of stories, and speak a language that fascinates and triggers emotions. This emotional aspect is reflected in all her work and goes hand in hand with her attention to manual skills. During her training in Luxembourg, Germany, and the Netherlands, she cultivated an interest in craftsmanship, seeking to generate a dialogue between design and craftsmanship. When developing new designs, she often works with experienced master craftsmen such as Kai Hengen, founder of Modulor Menuiserie + Design S.A., whose showroom and workshop are located in Mersch. Kai Hengen was born in Luxembourg and completed his master’s degree in Wilz in 2004. Since its establishment in 2010, Modulor has been dedicated to modern, creative, and sophisticated interior design including the design and development of designer furniture. The work offers a clear and timeless design approach, custom-made from sustainable and environmentally friendly materials.
