Piret Erny

Erny Piret was born in Tétange in 1940. Her life is guided by encounters with people, materials and techniques. She attended Marcel Verhofstadt’s drawing classes at the academy in Brussels (Saint Gilles). However, it was while visiting an exhibition at the Musée Mode & Dentelle that she fell in love with the textile disciplines, which combine “Art and Applied Art” masterfully. In 2009, she founded the international and travelling exhibitions “Asia-Europe – Fiber Art”, events exclusively presented in museums for long periods. Her concept of art is to constantly question, innovate and overcome the constraints imposed by the materials, working with various materials, explorin multiple techniques. Erny does not despise any material, any technique. Crossing threads, twisting them, braiding them or mixing them is a passion. Bringing materials to life through lightness, transparency, movement and movement and the three-dimensionality of the work is a goal sought in all her projects.
