Pitt Brandenburger, born in 1961 in Esch-sur-Alzette, is a Luxembourgish sculptor whose creations, long inspired by nature, wildlife, and the animal world, have focused on wood, a noble material, and more particularly on trees, which today embody Pitt’s main need for expression, and who, moreover, has never stopped passing on his expertise as an art teacher. So, trees, yes, but only those that have fallen naturally or been felled for a significant reason. For Nature singulière, he has chosen beech, more specifically, a piece created from a cancerous beech tree, a natural singularity. This unruly, dense, and unpredictable material forces him to rethink his approach and take on new challenges in terms of fungi, coloration, morphology, and texture. The final work, a monumental installation reminiscent of a grove, consists of several elements: a central piece cut vertically, busts, an arch, and a disc, all supported by steel rods evoking tree trunks. Between the brutality of the material and the finesse of the craftsmanship, Pitt Brandenburger honours the vital force of trees, their original beauty, and their memory.
