Gérard Claude, a Luxembourgish visual artist, has been exhibiting in Luxembourg and internationally since 1973. A winner of numerous awards (including the Grand Duke Adolphe Prize in 1979), his works are featured in prestigious public and private collections. His artistic approach is based on a unique combination of natural elements and sculptural creation. For Nature singulière, he presents hybrid objects made from terracotta grafted onto horns and bones. These materials, often sourced from old hunting trophies from the previous century or recovered from animal carcasses, are reassembled in surprising ways. The paper clay modelling (clay mixed with a small percentage of cellulose fibres, allowing for very fine work), fired at high temperatures, follows natural organic forms, blurring the boundaries between what is shaped and what is found. Each piece thus becomes a fragment of reinvented nature, both raw and evocative of the imagination. Gérard Claude gives these materials a second life, placing them in a biomorphic universe where the tension between strength and delicacy finds harmony. His work invites us to encounter the magical strangeness of a world in transformation.
