Monique Wolter, a Luxembourgish glass artist, has been exploring the expressive possibilities of glass—a hard yet fragile material—since 2014. Working alongside international glass artists, she has mastered the basic techniques of flat glass thermoforming. Today, she is self-taught and combines these processes to create vases and bowls, as well as art objects made from glass paste—a technique that allows her to delicately transpose plant structures. This is precisely the case with Verfolia, presented for the 2025 De Mains De Maîtres Biennale—a poetic work inspired by the vulnerability of living things, in this case, birds’ nests. Composed of around a hundred opaque glass leaves, moulded from real willow leaves, sanded, sandblasted, and then re-fired, the installation evokes a delicate nest, suspended between the natural and the artificial. Light filtering through the leaves creates a soft, shifting atmosphere—where each reflection becomes a trace of a cycle of transformation. Here, glass becomes a memory of nature, transposed into a contemporary language. This fusion of arti- sanal precision and the randomness of life fully embodies the theme of Nature singulière.
