Stine Bülow, a Danish goldsmith born in 1975 in Frederiksberg, worked at Georg Jensen in Kolding before opening her own workshop in Copenhagen and eventually settling in Luxembourg in 2009 as an independent goldsmith. Having already exhibited at the De Mains De Maîtres Biennale in 2021, her work is distinguished by its understated elegance and fascination with natural forms. For Nature singulière, she presents Ocean Gems, a series of three brooches inspired by the graceful movements of seaweed washed up on Danish beaches. This led to the idea of transforming these soft, slimy, and slightly slippery seaweeds into a completely contrasting material, as hard as silver and gold. Each piece, cut by hand individually, translates the organic suppleness of seaweed into precious materials—solid silver, 18-carat gold, freshwater pearls, and diamonds—whose contrasts—matte and shiny, hard and fluid, white and yellow—highlight the blur between nature and artifice. The brooches capture the ephemeral beauty of life in sculptur- al and timeless forms. Stine Bülow thus transforms a humble material into refined jewellery, celebrating the uniqueness of nature with poetry and precision.
