Anaïs Chappron, born in 1993, is a French ceramic artist based in Luxembourg. She trained in object design at the National School of Decorative Arts (ENSAD) in Nancy, then in ceramic arts at the CPIFAC (Inter- national Professional Centre in Velaine-en-Haye), before specialising in design and creation at CERFAV, a European centre dedicated to glass arts in Vannes-le-Châtel. She founded her studio in Metz in 2019, where she develops a dual practice: the creation of handmade tableware and the production of socially engaged sculptural works. For Nature singulière, she invites nature onto the table with A table !, an installation featuring a complete tableware set. The table is set, but the dishes have been replaced by frozen plants, as if time had suspended the meal and allowed nature to reclaim its rights. The plates, cutlery, and serving dishes are made of porcelain stoneware, a very light beige clay, and are stamped, turned, or modelled by hand. The napkins, made of moulded porcelain, create a perfect illusion with their whiteness. This work, born out of post-lockdown reflection, celebrates the poetry of everyday details through the delicacy of the gesture and challenges our relationship with consumption.
