Claude Goergen was born in 1959 in Saint-Germain-en-Laye (France) to his Swiss mother and his Luxembourgish father. Since then Claude lives and works in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. During his occupational career, he learned and developed skills in not less than 4 completely different professions. All his hobbies and professions had one thing in common: each one rooted in creativity and each one allowed him to express spiritual abilities together with his craftsmanship. Claude’s sculptures and assemblies mostly consist of different plywood, an artificial material which is not really suited for the task because the usual standard way of proceeding does not work for this composite. That’s the reason why Claude uses many techniques and equipment proper to different trades. Claude also processes natural stones and woods which he collects during his many walks across the north of Corsica. It is here in the Balagne region where he met the sculptor Pierre Pardon who became a friend and mentor allowing Claude to be part of his projects for two weeks every year.
