Camille Jacobs, a Belgian artist based in Keispelt, Luxembourg, has explored the expressive potential of glass for over three decades. Trained in the art of stained glass in Ghent and Antwerp, she gradually transitioned towards three-dimensional sculptural forms, where geometric rigour engages in dialogue with organic sensitivity. For Nature singulière, she presents a series of four vases entitled Carte postale, each dedicated to one of the natural elements: earth, water, fire and air. Conceived as poetic messages, these pieces are inspired by the haikus of Japanese monk Santōka Taneda and reflect on the fragile balance of our environment. Each vase, with its organic and modular forms, is the result of meticulous craftsmanship: layers of recycled glass, coloured hot with enamels, then fused and thermoformed. The triangle— an ancient symbol—appears discreetly across the surface. The glass becomes a trace, an imprint of life’s fragility, a beauty to be preserved. Camille Jacobs’ approach weaves together abstraction, ecological awareness, and refined technique. Her work, exhibited from Venice to Bornholm, reveals a rare mastery and a deeply humanistic vision of the material.
