Manolis Manarakis, a Greek sculptor born in 1976 and based in Luxembourg, has developed a distinctive body of work that combines wood and bone—materials he assembles with organic precision. Like living beings, composed of multiple interconnected parts, his sculptures are amalgamations of fragments: bones, revered since antiquity for their aesthetic and ritual potential, and wood, hand- shaped and polished with olive oil, engaging in dialogue with the density of bone in a subtle tension between permanence and disappearance. After initially studying economics, Manolis trained in fine arts in the United. His sculptural practice explores the human figure and nature, evoking bodily memory and trans- formation. For the 2025 De Mains De Maîtres Biennale, he will present a series entitled Vertebrata, in which bone fragments are integrated into hand-carved oak structures. These fragile yet powerful work pay tribute to animal life by reusing discarded elements, offering them a second existence—perhaps even a form of immortality. By questioning our relationship with living beings, this approach—at once ethical, aesthetic and philosophical— resonates deeply with the theme of Nature singulière.
