Iva Mrazkova, a Czech artist based in Luxembourg, and John Kieffer, an artistic blacksmith from Dudelange, form a duo that explores the transformation of raw materials into sculptural forms inspired by plant life. For Nature singulière, they present Transformation, a piece born of close observation of dried leaves—their curves and movements poised for artistic metamorphosis. Iva Mrazkova begins with sketches and models—crafted in wax or as paper collages—which she reworks until she achieves a fluid, feminine form. These models are initially cast in bronze, then transposed and enlarged in Corten steel by John Kieffer, whose technical mastery breathes life into these monumental sculptures. The steel, naturally oxidised, acquires a reddish patina that evokes earth, time, and erosion. This heavy, cold material becomes light, dynamic, and almost organic. The piece embodies the encounter between nature and the human hand—between the ephemeral and the enduring. It celebrates art’s ability to sublimate natural forms within a new temporality. Together, the two art- ists shape a reinvented nature—both fragile and powerful, both memory and future.
