Yliana Paolini, an interdisciplinary artist of Italian origin, lives and works in Luxembourg. Trained as an architect, she creates immersive works that combine painting, electronic music, and video. At the heart of her practice lies a desire to blur the boundaries between the organic and the artificial, fostering a sensory dialogue and a participatory experience. Remnant Echoes, a piece proposed for Nature singulière, an interactive sound sculpture shaped like a cocoon, crafted from aluminium wire, natural wool, and techno- logical components. It explores the encounter between nature and artifice by incorporating forest-recorded sounds—water, wind, birds—diffused through the metal structure, which vibrates upon contact with the visitor. Equipped with motion sensors, the sculpture responds to human presence, creating a unique sensory experience. Here, Yliana Paolini questions our relationship with nature’s sonic memory and how technology might serve as its poetic conduit. Far from a simple device, Remnant Echoes is a living composition—a space of resonance between the intimate and the universal. A profoundly contemporary work, in which listening becomes an act of reconnection.
