Christiane Schmit, a Luxembourgish artist born in 1951, trained in Fine Arts in Strasbourg and in jewellery at the Académie des Beaux-Arts in Arlon. For over a decade, she has combined traditional techniques with contemporary creativity, guided by the expressive richness of natural and metallic materials. For Nature singulière, she has created a series of jewellery sculptures inspired by the shapes, textures, and structures of the plant world. Working with silver, copper, brass and nickel silver—sometimes combined with wood, stone, or horsehair—she composes unique, distinctly organic pieces. She explores colour contrasts by assembling pieces from different materials, with hammered or sandpaper-textured metal strips playing a central role in her work.
