Léonie Fonck

Leonie was born in Diekirch in 1961. Even as a child, she was fascinated by knitting. Making something with just a thread and two needles.

In 2006, she began her jewellery courses with Claude Recken. The decision to continue was made straight away, and the courses followed one another. First at the Académie des Beaux-Arts in Arlon with Claire Lavende for 4 years, and then simultaneously in Freiburg, Germany, with Urs Stüssi and Hans Kasper (+) from the Pforzheim jewellery school. It was Hans' knitting classes that fascinated her the most.

In her workshop at the "Kuelbécherhaff", she is always looking for new challenges, experimenting with different thicknesses of silver wire and different shapes and diameters of knitting yarn. She's always trying to incorporate other materials into her knitting, such as precious stones, fabrics and wood. Each material has its own specific characteristics, and the challenge lies in respecting these characteristics and integrating them harmoniously into her goldsmithing work.
