Mathias Hoffmann

Mett (Mathias, Auguste, Jean) Hoffmann, who graduated in Engineering Product Design Management from the Institut Supérieur de Design in Valenciennes in 2010, is a freelance designer in Luxembourg. His work in the cultural sector, particularly in the organisation of events, has enabled him to contribute to the development of the local creative scene.

Mett Hoffmann's artistic approach focuses on exploring innovative, sustainable and accessible materials. His passion for light has led him to create unique lighting atmospheres. He starts with in-depth research to come up with ideas, then moves on to conceptualise and develop innovative products and services that encourage simplicity and reuse.

While working on the scenography for the Night of the Lanterns, Mett devised a system for constructing personalised lanterns from tracing paper and Parisian brads. His most recent creations, inspired by his travels and nature, are reusable lights that can be easily dismantled and reassembled. He also offers LAMPINION workshops where participants can create their own custom luminaires using an assembly system he has developed, encouraging creative diversity and the transmission of know-how.
