“Depuis ses débuts, Marianne privilégie la porcelaine comme moyen d’expression, un matériau qui l’interpelle pour sa texture et sa finesse et qui pose des défis constants.”

Marianne Steinmetzer (Kopie)

Marianne Steinmetzer lives and works in Bridel, Luxembourg. Since her beginnings as a ceramist she has favoured porcelain as a means of expression, a material that attracts her because of its texture and finesse and which presents constant challenges because of its fragility and instability during firing. She likes to make containers that are turned or worked on the plate, but mostly made by the moulding technique. Her pieces are then decorated with engobes with raised surfaces or patterns executed with paper cut-outs that become stencils. She is inspired by the confrontation with her environment. The changing seasons, rock formations, but also printed fabrics or individual questions are translated into rhythms and colours. All her pieces are unique or in small series.

For this exhibition, the artist delves into her memories to propose two artistic projects reflecting her idea of the territory: a treasure rooted in her, which nourishes her dreams and desires. The first project reflects her interest in preserving architectural heritage, and the second, her immersion in the textile arts through an interpretation of Luxembourg and Portuguese motifs.
